Can I get a refund on my DMV car registration if I am selling my car?

Romeo Tinnea: I was in a fender bender car accident 2 weeks ago. A lady did an unsafe lane change and swerved into my lane! I tried to avoid but couldn't. My insurance did their investigation and stated I am not at fault. The lady's insurance is Fred Loya which I hear is terrible to deal with! (they are) They say since her name is not listed as a driver on the policy they will not cover my damages. The policy is under her husbands name. As far as I know it is the car covered NOT the driver. which means since her car is covered (not under her name) They should cover me! I've already notified Geico My insurance company to deal with Fred Loya but I was just wondering if Geico doesn't get them to pay for it what action should I take againest Fred Loya Insurance? We are in Texas if that helps....Show more

Susan Rambo: Haha you can't. Welcome to life.

Raul Tllo: Negative ghost writer pattern is full.

Phil Kuarez: I'm pretty srue the insurance company of the la! dy will pay for the hospital bills. Also, they will pay for your car to get fixed too.

Clifford Riggleman: no amyahooworker no.

Jonathan Schlussel: 1

Myriam Hetjonk: i was a t tech college and someone scraped my car a little in the front thats all but they didnt tell anyone how can i get them to pay?

Sunshine Holets: I asked this same question several times, and didn't get a proper answer

Florencio Dingle: nope

Deangelo Marchak: You can turn it in on your insurance or the school may have cameras. You should check.

Pattie Vold: most likely, you'll only be reimbursed for medical bills you pay for injuries incurred. Pain and suffering probably won't happen for minor injuries. I've been hit at that speed while sitting still, and it hurts. Make sure you do get seen, you could have some minor neck damage that needs to be looked at.

Inge Mclaurine: Ny Dmv Car Registration

Chi Alfero: Your parents, not you, can get any exp! enses that were a direct result of the accident reimbursed by ! the insurance company of the at fault person. You have not won the lottery, and they won't give you or your parents any money if you had no expenses.

Mozell Sponsler: haha! the government give u money back? your in America, right?

Susan Rambo: As a minor, you can't get a cent. Maybe your parents can, but it's going to depend on 1. the tort issue you have in your state 2. your personal tort 3. how badly you were injured (honestly, it doesn't sound like you're injured hardly at all). Any money would go to your legal guardian, not you.

Janean Guz: I got a sore neck and knee and they wrote that in the police report and im a minor. We got hit at a light we were at a dead stop and a lady was going about 30 and hit us.

Penelope Armond: always when i post a question, even if it is the easiest one, they can't provide me a proper informed answer on this site. Wtf happened to people that actually take the time to write an answer??

Hye Caulley: You h! ave to get proof they hit you. See if your school has and security cameras in the parking lot. If you do not have proof there is really nothing you can do. Sadly, this happens alot.

Caroyln Ebach: Ask security to see the tape

Eldridge Rieves: If Fred Loya denies the claim based on her not being listed on the policy, then they have every right to do so. Your insurance will have to go after the driver personally. It's not the insurance company that's the problem here, it's the fact that the driver had no right to be behind the wheel of that car. Don't blame Fred Loya. There will be NO action you can take against the insurance company. Some insurance companies don't cover non-listed drivers. That's all....Show more

Lyman Gauld: no you can't, that's a fee. fees are normally not refunded

Cole Desher: hmmm NO wishful thinking though

Brian Freedland: In New York State the registration is paid for 2 years. If in the first year before 6 months has past of! your registration, you will get back only one year of your money. If i! t goes over 6 months of the first year then you loss your money. I don't know what state your in, but this is for New York,

Sheldon Lally: a credit will be applied to the next one. Make sure you do this at the DMV, Ill tell you why. If your selling to a private party and they do not go register it, you can be liable for their tickets, and accidents. Go to your states DMV website. Find out all thats needed to be signed and what you must go file yourself to get yourself free of being considered an owner. If you mess up and say they get it towed, you will be the only legal owner who can get the car back, and if they toss out the title, now your acruing charges of impoundment and storage and have to wait to get a copy of your title before you go pay to get it out. Happend to me, please be careful. Bill of sale, make sure you get one, and all the other things, make sure you understand legally what you are doing before you do it....Show more

Logan Bero: It depends on ! which state you live in. We live in Arizona and yes, here you can get credit towards your next vehicle. See if your DMV has a web-site. You might find the answers there.

Everette Rovinsky: go to the hospital.it has to be documented by a doctor,,,,,,,,then get an attorney

Hermina Ketring: In Arizona, you can. But you don't get it all back, you only get a pro-rated amount and they charge a hefty "service or processing fee" to do it. Still, it's better than nothing.
