Why is Gen 5/6 so overrated? (Pokémon)?

Coleen Carignan: Gen 5 is underrated. Everyone seems to hate them. Maybe you found yourself talking to some 6 year olds who seem to be "growing up" with BW/2 at the time. I believe to got the response after positng your opinion on gen 6 because gen 6 has a lot of hype surrounding it and sometimes hype blinds people.

Jonathan Schlussel: Gen 1 definitely had to have improvements, but overall it created the solid series and the fundamentals really haven't changed. The newer gens, 5/6, have done great with the visual aspect. However, a majority of the new pokemon, starting with gen 4, do seem less thought out. I bet they all sit in a room throwing random ideas down to come up with the 'newest pokemon to add to the series', staring at their desks and calling out the first thing they think of, "I call this pokemon Princil (a pencil) an! d this one Rasor (an eraser)".
