question about mining/environment and laws?

Vernon Martorana: When a mining application is submitted it is standard for the company to hire someone to perform an Environmental Impact Assesment. To get their permit they usually have to display a means of protecting or conserving any key issues that have come up in this statement e.g. avoiding a certain area where birds inhabit etc. They also have to show the government how they will repair the site once the mine has been exhausted. so in the case of a quarry - they would say if they were to flood it of infill it with waste etc to enable the environment to recover....Show more
