eggs sell by date, still good?

Clement Viscarro: That's really old. Personally, I would throw them out. You could fill a large bowl with water and put them in. If they float to the top, they have air inside and are 99% chance bad.

Marquetta Gimm: No, I think that's too old. Bad eggs can actually make you really sick, too. I'd just get some new ones. Sorry!I really wouldn't bother with them being so old, but here are some tests to see for sure:1)Place the egg in a bowl of cold water. If it floats, it's bad2)Shake it close to your ear. If you hear a slight sloshing noise at all, it's bad.3)Crack it open onto a dish, and observe:*If the yolk is slightly globe-shaped and sitting high, and the albumen (or egg white) is gathered closely around it, then the egg is fresh.*If the yolk is sitting a bit lower and the albumen is transparent, but still gathered close, then the egg is a bit older, but still safe to eat.*If the yolk is flat and the albumen is runny (almost like water), then the egg is bad.G! ood luck!...Show more

Ronald Moehr: The date is a freshness date not a "bad after date".
