So a board could fire the founder. However, most corporations are small companies and have very few shareholders. If you started a corporation and didn't seek any outside investors or have any partners, you would be the only shareholder. So you would have 100% control over who was on the board. In most states you could even hold all officer positions and be the only member of the board. Since you would be the board, you could fire yourself, but that is unlikely to happen.Large publicly traded companies such as Microsoft or Apple have much larger board of director! s and millions of outstanding shares of stock.
