Credit union credit card rates?

Douglass Sarley: It is not easy to get a credit card from a credit union.They are much more tough on accepting you.I had to have excellent rating, along with showing proof of salary.If you are carrying credit card balances right now, this is reducing your credit rating.You may not be able to get the card.But do try - since their members have higher scores - their rates stay lower than the average./...Show more

Maritza Ebanks: Thanks for your responses. I have one credit card from a large bank. They have hiked the rate to over 20% (very common these days). Credit Unions have helped me through some terrible sutuations in the past, so I know they are far more customer friendly than banks.

If you have an account at a credit union, it is generally much easier to get a credit card or loan from them than from a local bank.In almost all cases, credit cards issued from credit unions will have lower interest rates than bank issued ! cards.Federal law prohibits federal credit unions from charging interest rates higher than 18%. For-profit credit card companies, however, have no restrictions on the interest rate that they can levy on account holders.
